Hi. I'm Lisa. I started Oak and June because I wanted a creative space to combine my passions for design, cooking, photography, gardening, and just generally being creative. A lot of my inspiration comes from my family. My husband and I have 4 beautiful daughters, and 2 wonderful sons in law. Together we love sharing moments at home (around the dinner table or fire place) and moments away (travelling and exploring).
I am very excited to be sharing some of our favourite things with you all.
I settled on the Oak and June name because it embodies everything the business is about - family.
Oak is the giant oak tree in our yard that represents our family home. The tree itself has been climbed over and over, and is the site of countless family photos.
June is a family name. June is the month my husband and I were married. It's also my middle name.
So Oak and June, quite simply, means home and family.
It means being together and making memories.
With my daughters in mind, I decided to start recording our family recipes. I wanted to preserve those dreamed up by my husband and I, as well as those of our parents and grandparents. When I started an Instagram page with this simple goal, I was amazed at the conversations started, and the connections created. This motivated me to share my recipes with others, all the while preserving them for my children. And I one day hope to create an Oak and June cookbook.
